We recently carried out a detailed survey to support the design and planning stages of a proposed development on an existing residential plot. The aim was to capture both a topographical survey and 3D point cloud data, all tied to OS coordinates. Some areas were heavily overgrown, making access and visibility a challenge. To overcome this, we used a combination of laser scanners, a total station for control, and the Emlid RS2+ to gather accurate positioning data. A great example of how the right mix of tools and techniques can produce a satisfying and reliable result — even in tricky terrain.
